Yoga Poses and Yoga Positions - Trataka or Third Eye Meditation

Trataka or Third Eye Meditation Benefits: It is a cleansing exercise for the eyes and helps in controlling the mind.

Yoga Poses and Yoga Positions - Trataka or Third Eye Meditation Technique:

  1. Sitting with the back straight, the eyes must be closed and eyeballs moved from side to side and up and down and diagonally in all directions.
  2. Then open the eyes and make similar movements of the eyeballs.
  3. Care should be taken to do each movement four to six times.
  4. After this the eyes must be fixed on any object in front or on the empty wall without blinking and without any movements until tears start flowing from the eyes.
  5. The gaze can be fixed on a lamp flame, or a picture or the letter ‘aum’ or if mind can be made still it is best to keep the gaze fixed on the empty wall.
