Yoga Poses and Yoga Positions - Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar

Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar Benefits: Builds muscular strength, endurance and keeps the mind happy, good for spine and limbs, improves breathing so it is good for respiratory system, reduces abdominal fat so helps in reducing obesity.

Yoga Poses and Yoga Positions - Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar Technique:

  1. Stand facing the sun. Inhale and reach back with arms above the head, bend backwards. While exhaling bend forward, keeping the knees straight place hands on ground, touch knees to forehead.
  2. Lower the body on the floor while exhaling and holding the breath, so that the hands, knees, and forehead touch the ground, while keeping the abdominal portion and nose raised upwards.
  3. Start inhaling and raising and arching the body backwards, while pushing the spine.
  4. Exhale and lift the body and hips keeping the feet and heels on the ground so that the body is raised in the middle.
  5. Inhale and place the right foot between the hands on floor and extend the left leg back.
  6. Repeat the above after changing sides.
  7. Practice at least ten to twelve rounds in the morning.
