Dhanurasana - Yoga Postures and Poses

Dhanurasana Benefits: The posture is extremely good for vertebral column, alimentary canal, circulatory system and all muscle groups especially the abdominal muscles.

Dhanurasana Description and Technique:

  1. Dhanush means a bow. So in this asana body assumes a posture resembling a bow.
  2. Lying with the face down on the seat, the feet are held with hands and the body is turned like a bow.
  3. The position is held for a few seconds to a few minutes.
  4. The knees should be kept together but it may be difficult for a beginner so one can start with keeping the knees apart.
  5. The final posture should be tried to achieve after a few practice trials.
