Women are particularly troubled by a number of menstrual problems like pre menstrual syndromes, menstrual cramps, mood swings and others. Yoga can help out in naturally preventing and treating these problems. There is a growing popularity of the healing powers of yoga as it helps in keeping one’s mind and body in healthy condition. Let’s look at how yoga with its breathing exercises and asanas can help you get rid of menstrual related problems.

Yoga is all about bringing a harmonious balance between your outer and inner self. It not only helps in getting you rid of physical ailments but also aids in uniting you with your inner spiritual self for peace, harmony and solace. If you are suffering from menstrual problems like menstrual cramps, heavy bleeding, back pain or pelvic discomfort, then here is how yoga can help you out.

There are special forward bend asanas in yoga which helps in the treatment of problems like lower abdominal pain, cramps, and heavy bleeding. Similarly, there are some standing poses like Parivrtta Trikonasana and Ardha Chandrasana along with other asanas that help in preventing many common problems associated with menstrual cycles.

Let’s now look at some specific yogic poses and asanas which can help alleviate menstrual pain. Kapalabhati, the breathing exercise, cat pose, bow pose, anuloma viloma and others are some helpful yogic exercises for women.

Since stress and tension are known to be a root cause of various troubles and they even aggravate menstrual problems, it is necessary to effective tackle the problem of stress. Yoga comes in handy here as it helps in relaxing and de-stressing a person, thereby eliminating the root cause of various problems.
