Ways to Treat Migraine
How often do you complain of severe headaches, usually one sided one with nausea and discomfort? Migraine is a disease which has headache as its main symptom. Other symptoms include nausea, photophobia, sensitivity to sound, vomiting, vertigo, dizziness, palpation, rapid breathing and even scalp tenderness. Usually migraines are a result of certain triggers like stress or food items like coffee, cheese, milk, peanuts and even certain kinds of smell can trigger migraine attack. Given below are certain simple ways by which you can get relief from the problem of migraine.
When a person is suffering from migraine attack, the first thing that comes to mind is to somehow reduce the magnitude of pain and discomfort. This is possible and you don’t necessarily have to take heavy doses of medicine for it. Since the stomach usually gets churned up due to vomiting caused by migraine, you should try to consume easily digestible food items. It has been found that consumption of certain food items can prove helpful during a migraine attack. These include vegetable soups, porridge with water, semi-boiled eggs, banana, apple, pears and spinach. You should also make it a point to sip plenty of water between meals so that your nausea does not lead to frequent vomiting. Moreover, it is essential to keep your body hydrated. Drinking of chamomile and peppermint tea can also provide relief. To ease the pain and headache, you can apply a cold pack on your forehead or can also try putting a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel under your neck. Take rest, but keep your windows open to allow circulation of fresh air. A gentle massage of the neck and shoulder region can also do wonders. In addition, you should try to avoid intake of those food items which trigger your migraine attack. Follow these simple tips and effectively treat your migraine for a healthy you.
