Ways to Purify Water

February 13, 2009

Water is one such natural source which is of prime importance for sustenance of life. However, contaminated water is extremely harmful and can lead to water borne diseases like dysentery, typhoid and others. It thus becomes essential to ensure that you consume safe and pure water. If you are wondering how you can ensure consumption of pure water, given below are some steps for water purification.

Purifying water is not an uphill task. It just requires you to pay special attention towards this essential hygienic activity. Water can be easily purified at home via boiling, distillation, and disinfection. You can also make use of household chlorine, and iodine to disinfect water. Let’s see how these methods need to be preformed to ensure crystal clear and healthy water for consumption.

Boiling is the simplest and the most common way to purify water. All you need to do is to take some water and boil it for 3 to 5 minutes. Then cool the water and it becomes ready for consumption. Usually, you will see that when you boil water, a thin layer of residue gets formed on the top. All you need to do is to remove that residual layer and save the rest of clean and clear water for consumption.

Along with boiling, you can also disinfect water at home to prevent water borne infections. There are purification tablets available in markets which can be used to disinfect water and make it safe for consumption. Water can also be purified using chlorine and iodine. Additionally, you can use a water filter for purifying water.

Whatever be the mode of purification you adopt, the point is to make your water safe, clear and germ free before consuming it so that you live a healthy and a disease-free life.
