Ways to Prevent Flu
If you frequently get hit by colds and flu, then you must take the following steps to strengthen your immune system and prevent yourself from getting infected easily.
If you want to stay away from cold, sneezes and flu, then you need to have a healthy immune system. For that, you should have a healthy diet and include food items rich in Vitamin C. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eating yogurt has also been linked with an increase in immunity which in turn provides protection from flu.
Along with a healthy diet, you also need to keep your body hydrated and have plenty of water and fluids. This is because a dehydrated body is more prone to infections, especially those of flu. You can also have fresh fruit juices, soups, and herbal teas. Additionally, hot liquids can also provide natural relief from nasal congestions.
Avoid stress. Stress is a major trigger for colds and flu as stress weakens your immune system and makes it vulnerable to infections. Thus, learn to effectively manage your stress via meditation, yoga and various other stress management techniques. You also need to provide your body with adequate sleep and rest as believe it or not, a fatigued and tired body is vulnerable of catching infections and flu.
Flu can be spread via contact and sharing of infected things. Thus, try to stay away from people who have a cold or flu. Also, avoid sharing of clothes and utensils with a sick person.
To add on to the preventive measures, you should make it a habit to wash your hands after coming from outside and before consuming food as it helps in preventing spreading of virus and flu.
The cold season is seen as a season of flu. During this season most of us prefer staying indoors in our centrally heated rooms. However, you need to get some fresh air as excessive heating leads to drying up of body which in turn makes it susceptible to flu viruses and germs.
