Ways to Clean Cutting Boards
We all are familiar about the benefits of using a cutting board. It is a regular item found in every household. However, to live a healthy life, it is imperative to keep your cutting boards clean and hygienic to avoid any infections and ailments. Given below are some tips that will help you in cleaning your cutting boards.
It is always advisable to have two cutting boards at home: one should be used for cutting meat and other non-vegetarian stuff and you should have one exclusively for cutting vegetables and fruits.
Also, always wash your cutting board before and after cutting anything. This ensures your cutting boards are clean and hygienic. Also, remember to scrape away any food particle that might be left on the cutting board. This helps in preventing germs and bacteria to form on the cutting board.
Plastic cutting boards can be easily washed with a dishwasher. However, if you use a wooden cutting board, then it is advised that you should avoid using a dishwasher as that can possibly loosen up the glue that keeps your wooden board in one piece.
Washing the cutting board with hot water and soap helps. Hot water helps in killing germs.
You can also disinfect your cutting boards to keep it safe and hygienic. You can sanitize it by using vinegar. Similarly, you can use bleach and water.
All you need to do is to mix one teaspoon of bleach with one quart of water and then use that disinfecting or sanitizing mixture to clean your cutting board. After washing your cutting board, you must let it dry properly before you use it the next time.
Follow the above given simple tips for cleaning your cutting boards so that you remain healthy and disease free.
