No wonder over 125 million people across the world use contact lenses. They wear lenses not only for sight correction but simply to change their look. Baby blue one day, cat’s eye the next, your eyes have a new palette to choose from. You can either go for long –lasting lenses that are good for a year or wear through the day and trash them at night. But no matter whichever kind you use, contact lenses do harm your eyes by causing various problems.

If the lenses you wear are ill-fitting either too tight or too loose, they can cause redness or severe discomfort. In this case, it would be better for you that you remove your lenses immediately and take a visit to your eye specialist.

It can cause giant papillary conjunctivitis. It happens due to unhygienic usage and over wear of lenses that leads to deposits on your lens that causes fiction. You may find intolerable pain and discomfort. So, it would be wise that you discontinue wearing such lenses and buy a pair of new disposable ones for yourself.

You can suffer from contact lens solution hypersensitivity. Some component of lens solution makes your eye sensitive, causing redness, irritation in eyes. So you better use some preservative free solutions for cleaning and storing your lenses. It would be nice if you change your brand.

Contact lens protein deposits may also happen. In this, proteins get deposited on your lens. This causes discomfort for the wearer, and he/she finds it hard to wear lenses for long period of time. For removing this problem, clean your contact lenses thoroughly while maintaining a good hygiene for avoiding this problem to occur in future. But if the problem persists, make sure you visit your doctor for help.
