Vitamins for Weight Loss

November 26, 2008

When we think about weight loss, the first thing which comes to our mind is to restrict diet. But did you know that weight loss is possible by intake of certain food items too? Surprised? There are various vitamins which play a pivotal role in helping you reduce weight along with staying healthy. Given below are such invaluable vitamins and the way by which they help you achieve your desired figure.

There are times when we tend to gain weight despite leading a healthy lifestyle. This can occur due to functioning disability of our thyroid. Vitamin B2 solves this problem as it helps in ensuring normal thyroid function and metabolism. Good sources of vitamin B2 include milk, liver, kidney, almonds, leafy green vegetables and eggs.  Vitamins B2 and B3 also aid in normal thyroid hormone production. Similarly, vitamin B5 helps us remain fit as any deficiency of this vitamin interferes with our capacity to utilize fat. Thus include in your diet food items like nuts, poultry, wheat germ, eggs, oats and beans as they are good sources of vitamin B5. Though choline is not a real vitamin, it is a member of the vitamin B complex which is made in the liver. However, it is important for efficient fat metabolism and can be found in food items like beef liver, beef heart, egg yolks, wheat germ and even in cucumber and peanuts. Just like choline, inositol is also a vitamin manufactured inside the body and this also assists in fat metabolism. Also include vitamin C rich foods like lemons, oranges and green peppers in your diet as along with providing various health benefits, it helps in the proper conversion of glucose to energy in the cells.

Thus, vitamins can help in weight loss and thus it is a wise idea to provide your body with essential vitamins to remain healthy and fit.
