Understanding Baby Blues

babybluesHaving a baby is one of the most beautiful experiences in a woman’s life. But there are certain problems that can come even after giving birth to a baby and one of them is baby blues or postpartum depression. Usually, baby blues occur after delivery and last for about 10 odd days.

However, there are certain women who might have these baby blues and its associated symptoms in a more severe way and for a prolonged period. This article will help you understand baby blues, its causes, symptoms and some natural ways to get over it.

If you are finding it hard to get sleep or peace after delivery and if you are bogged down by unnecessary tension and anxiety, then you may be suffering from baby blues.

Baby blues or postpartum depression can be characterized by a lot of symptoms. Along with the ones just mentioned, other symptoms of baby blues are lack of appetite, frequent mood swings, irritability, emotional upheaval, loss of energy, and even unexplained weight loss or weight gain.

If you have already suffered from postpartum depression before or depression during pregnancy or any kid of depression, then you can have baby blues. Stressful events, difficult marriage, and even severe PMS are some of the causes responsible for baby blues.

If you are suffering from baby blues, then you need to get over it as soon as possible. For this you need the love and support of your near and dear ones and of your husband. Distress, calm and reenergize yourself, both emotionally and physically.

Express your emotions and share it with your hubby, friends, and family members. Giving vent to your emotions will help you effectively come out of postpartum depression.  However, if your baby blues last for a long time, then you must seek professional help.
