Trying hard preparing for entrance exams

March 25, 2009

With board exams about to conclude, hundreds of students are heaving a sigh of relief, but at the same time, there are many for whom the struggle has just begin. Certainly during the months of April and May, many students appear for various entrance exams like engineering, medical, tourism, hotel management, fashion designing, computer applications and other professional courses.

While many students feel it is the board exams that mark the beginning of their careers, others opine that the turning point in their life comes only with the entrance examinations. Students have started realizing that it is not the board examinations that directly get one’s admission in any professional course. It is the result of the entrance exams that decides the path.

So students prefer to focus on post board period than the board itself. Gone are those days when students were more concerned about performing well in entrance exams. Board exams are just a necessity. They are not the deciding factor for one’s career.

Students are now seems to be adapting to this new above written concept about entrance examinations, the career counselors are too apprehensive about this trend. But that does not mean that students should take board exams lightly. Keep in mind that Board exams are not that much important in curving one’s career graph, is a wrong perception propounded by coaching institutes in student’s mind.

Students should themselves judge what is good for them and for their career before accepting any advice blindly. In fact, students should have expert career counseling right after class X, so that they don’t feel like standing at the crossroads. Boards or no boards, each exam is a learning experience in itself and should be given its due weightage. No exams should be taken lightly!
