Treating Oily Skin Problems
June 25, 2008
A person might have a shiny face throughout but it is not necessary that all that shines is healthy. People who possess an oily skin often display a shiny face but that is also accompanied with the skin feeling greasy and sticky. This is because certain skins produce more sebum and natural oils than normal. It is generally a genetic condition in which the hormones of a person activate the sebum production leading to a greasy and an oily skin.
Oily skin can cause several skin problems like blackheads, acne and also the difficulty of wearing a make-up. However, proper care of one’s skin can help to prevent such problems and there are also natural remedies available to help your skin glow with health. One should avoid the use of products with harsh chemicals as it can end up leaving the face dry and rough along with upsetting the ph balance of the skin thereby causing other skin disorders.
Proper cleansing of skin
A proper face cleanser is a primary requirement for people with oily skin. A face cleanser specifically formulated for oily skin contains ingredients like alpha and beta hydroxyl acid which helps to unclog pores and remove impurities from the skin. In addition, prior to applying makeup to the face, one should use natural antiperspirants which can help prevent excessive sweating. This in turn would help to reduce the shine and greasiness from one’s face thereby allowing the easy application of make-up. In addition, one should use only oil-free foundation and make-up to avoid further problems.
Treating blackheads:
Blackheads are a common occurrence in people with oily skin. To naturally cure them, one can make an effective mixture by mixing the oatmeal paste with lemon juice and olive oil. This paste should then be applied on the face as it would help in pulling out oil from the pores thereby helping in the reduction of the occurrence of blackheads.
Avoid over-washing of face
As against the popular belief that washing one’s face frequently can reduce the oily nature of the skin, it has been found that excessive washing can actually cause the body to make more oil as it tricks the body into thinking that the face and oil ducts are dry. Hence, one should wash one’s face gently and should avoid the use of harsh soaps or chemicals.
