Traveling By Plane? Just Mind Your Manners

September 6, 2008

Do you know that traveling by air has a lot to do with respecting the personal space of your fellow travelers? Confused about the statement? Then have a look on the following advice on traveling manners on an airplane.
Don’t plunk your luggage on an empty seat in a waiting room. If an elderly person or pregnant woman walks up, offer your seat.

Remember that flight attendants are not your servants. So, don’t forget to smile at them and perhaps say hello by their name. Try to make eye contact with them and thank them whenever they serve you.

Undoubtedly, most of us tend to grab the first opportunity to put our carry-on bags in the first available bin, especially towards the front, so that you can jump up, grab it and exit quickly. Instead, put your carry-on bag above your own seat or perhaps even under your seat.

If you are thinking to lean your seat backwards, then make sure you ask the person sitting behind you. This is because how far you can lean your seat back is not up to you but to the comfort of the fellow behind you. So, whenever you feel like sitting in a more relaxed manner by leaning your seat, look behind you and ask eye to eye “is it ok if I lean back just a little?”

Give up your aisle or window seat for a harried mom or a person traveling with kids. This will eases you from any kind of disturbances and trust me, you will be definitely rewarded in heaven for this.

Always acknowledge your neighbors with as smile on your face. Also, you can initiate small talks to make a more comfortable atmosphere in the plane.

If you have carried some healthy, smell-free snacks, you can share them with your fellow travelers too.
