Top 5 Running Tips

September 4, 2008

There are so many reasons for which we love running-it beats dragging yourself to gym, it’s free, you can do it when and wherever you want and you don’t even have to buy anything new to do it, just your black old pair of jogging bottoms at the back of your wardrobe will do it nicely. In fact all you need is a front door to run out through. Here are some best running tips for all you running lovers.

Do the arms test
Try putting hands into your pockets as you run-it will make you realize just how much your arms help propel you. Put most of the effort in the forward swing, as the arm will spring back on its own. Don’t let your arms swing across your body though.

Stay on the grass
Walk on softer surfaces like grass as they are more forgiving than concrete and tarmac which are really hard on your body joints.

Be safe
Try to take a partner or your close friend along with you for safety measures. Make sure to stick to well-lit places otherwise you may suffer from the chances of theft or robbery or any other mishappening. Undoubtedly listening music from you I-pod can be refreshing but don’t try to wear it unless you are in a safer area.

Keep yourself hydrated

Remember that drinking plenty of water is really essential to keep yourself away from early tiredness. For hydration on the go, you can carry a doughnut-style water bottle that can slip over your wrist.

Buy a well –fitting sports bra
Getting the right sports bra is another important running tip. Without the right kind of support, running can make your breast to sag, so make sure to invest in a proper size sports bra.
