Tips to Refuse

September 1, 2008

Do you fall under the category of people who finds it hard to say no when you have to without being too rude? Well if the answer to above question is yes- then just read out some nice tricks that can help you too refuse the things in a polite manner.

If you thinking the best way to refuse a date, then politely explain that you are unavailable and if possible state the reason for your unavailability too. However, don’t forget to leave it open-ended if you are looking for a date in a near future with the same person. It would be even better if you call him or her personally and let the person know that you are unavailable. Make sure not to make tall promises and fuzzy plans regarding the same. This is because if you might get caught it will worsen the situation for both of you.

Don’t know how to react with that expensive gift your guy gifted you, try to speak to him in private, or write a poem but firm letter of refusal when you decide to send back the gift to the sender. But make sure you do not forget to thanks the sender in a profuse manner for the expensive gift he or she brought for you.

If it’s a corporate gift, explain the company policy that stipulates the do’s and don’t of accepting gifts.

Try to be a little smarter to dodge those embarrassing personal queries. If you face any of them just be ready with a bland smile saying nothing. Trust me this works at its best. Just keep smiling and walk on. for e.g. If you find it uneasy to deal with questions relating to your ex-mate or marital problems, just frown a bit and then state politely that you are uncomfortable while discussing such issues.
