Tips to help you Quit Smoking

October 3, 2008

Smoking is not an ailment but is the root cause of various problems, especially the increased risk of lung cancer. Not that it is good for any part of your body or even your skin as smoking accelerates the aging process making you look old and aged. Don’t think that this is a cool act, as smoking has no positive aspects attached to it. It only eats away your health thereby hollowing you from inside. Quit smoking as soon as possible to prevent your life from falling into the deep pit of ailments. Though easier said than done, the given tips would help make this task of quitting smoking an easy one.

Read as much as you can on the harmful effects of smoking so that you can encourage yourself enough to quit this unhealthy habit. If not for yourself, at least for your near and dear ones. Having a positive approach with the required will power and determination is the primary requirement for building up the foundation for quitting smoking. Decide you are going to quit this habit and stick to your words. It is not a bad idea to start this quit smoking motto on a special day so that you always remember it and make sincere efforts to follow it. Start conditioning yourself physically through exercise, even moderate one, so that you not only build up your health and strength, but also stay away from smoking. Exercise has been found to have beneficial results in helping people quit cigarettes. Similarly, drink more fluids, get plenty of rest and avoid fatigue. Also avoid stress, tension or depression as that usually leads a person to smoke. Develop strong relations with your near and dear ones so that they can help you come out of this dark shadow of life. Similarly, immediately quit bad company so as to avoid bad influence.

It’s absolutely true that bad habits are fast to grasp but extremely difficult to get rid of. This is also the case with smoking. You might face from withdrawal symptoms but these are temporary; all you need is will power and dedication to overcome this unhealthy habit.
