May 29, 2009

backneckcareWe all are living a predominantly sedentary life as most of our jobs are related to computer and office work. Thus, for the major part of our day, we end up sitting in front of the computer.

This in turn takes a toll on our health and our neck and back regions are the most affected. Given below are some basic tips for back and neck care.

Practice a good posture. Having a proper posture is essential to prevent various problems associated with our neck and back. Don’t slouch. Sit upright and don’t have your back and neck bent in a faulty posture as that can harm them over the long run. Most of the neck and back pain people complain of are a result of faulty posture.

If your work demands you to sit in front of your computer, you must follow some preventive steps right form the beginning to avoid facing problems in latter stages of your life.

Take frequent breaks and don’t have your neck bent or leaned in front of the screen for a long time. Have a proper backrest which is comfortable for your back and neck.

Practice basic neck exercises as they are not only beneficial but absolutely important to keep your neck and back in a healthy and fit condition.

Having a regular neck massage helps in de-stressing your necks and shoulders. Also, it is advised to sleep on a firm mattress as that helps in keeping your back healthy.

Also, do not use more than one pillow. The pillow you use should not be too high as you need to have a proper pillow alignment for your neck.

Regular exercise is a must to keep your neck and back in healthy condition for a long time. Thus, follow the above given tips to live a healthy and a happy life.
