Teenage Drinking

February 3, 2009

Drinking amongst teens is on a steady rise; blame it on fashion, media, trend, modernism or simply to habit. With a steady rise of teenager drinking, especially in parties and friend’s gatherings, it is time parents take control.

While many parents think that a little drinking here and there won’t do any harm, alcohol drinking is like a slow poison which makes a person hollow with the passage of time. Read below to find out why you should prevent your teen from getting into alcohol addiction.

Teenage is a time when your body undergoes many changes, be it physical, emotional or psychological. Alcohol drinking during this time is particularly dangerous as it tends to increase teens dependency on alcohol ultimately turning it into alcohol addiction. Since the brain and body of adolescents is still under the development stage, alcohol hits them the most and leads to numerous adverse effects.

While drinking for any age group is harmful, it is particularly dangerous for teenagers. This is because it has been found that alcohol can permanently affect a teen’s developing brain. The immature organs of the teens too get adversely affected by alcohol and thus, even little alcohol is like a poison for them.

Let’s grill down further to find out how alcohol can affect the developing organs of a teen’s body. Irregular heartbeats, liver damage, shallow breathing, and even choking are some of the common side-effects of alcohol drinking in teens. This is because alcohol directly affects the nervous system of the body.

In addition, it greatly affects their temperament and makes them behave in a reckless and socially unacceptable behavior. Thus, teenagers should be prevented from boozing to prevent life long damage to health and happiness. After all, drinking is just a façade of looking cool and trendy; image and reputation is built form one’s inner nature, not from external fake appearances.
