Being a mother brings with it loads of joy and everlasting moments of happiness. Some women get double and even triple happiness when they are diagnosed with multiple pregnancy. But the question is how you come to know whether you are going to become a mother of one child, twins or even triplets. Different women display different kinds of symptoms when they are carrying. However, there are certain broad or generic symptoms which can be associated with multiple pregnancy. Women carrying twins or triplets usually have increased morning sickness happening at any time of the day. However, there can be some lucky women who experience only mild discomfort and thus never suspect carrying multiples. Weight gain is associated with any form of pregnancy. However, singleton pregnancies usually lead to ten to twenty pounds of weight gain and mothers of twin usually gain fifteen to twenty five pounds by the end of the second trimester. Increased uterus size can also be a strong indicator of multiple pregnancy. As is common, women carrying multiples usually face extreme fatigue and are probably the most common complaint of many women carrying multiples. If you have these given symptoms, you can get yourself checked for multiple pregnancy rather than just believing in it through symptoms. After all, these are generic symptoms and can differ from women to women. Usually, multiple pregnancy can be diagnosed through blood test, ultrasound or sonography and through Alpha- fetoprotein. Moreover, multiple pregnancy also implies increased care and prevention for a healthy mother and healthy babies. You also need to increase your nutritional intake to cater for growing demands.
