June 11, 2009

cervicalspondyloYou must have often seen people wearing cervical collars to support their neck. There are many people who suffer from the problem of Cervical Spondylosis. Chronic degeneration of the cervical spine and the wear and tear of neck’s cartilage and bones leads to the problem of Cervical Spondylosis. This article will discuss the various symptoms that are associated with this problem.

Since Cervical Spondylosis affects the neck and spinal region, the most common symptom associated with this problem is that of neck pain. The pain can be mild to severe and can also restrict your movement.

This pain can also spread to your arms and shoulders, causing a lot of discomfort and it can also lead to numbness and loss of sensation. This is because the problem of Cervical Spondylosis leads to your nerve being compressed which in turn leads to changes in sensation and numbness. If the problem of Cervical Spondylosis is not treated on time, it can lead to chronic neck pain.

Along with neck pain, another symptom of Cervical Spondylosis is that of neck stiffness. The stiff neck in turn can limit the movement of your neck. Other symptoms of Cervical Spondylosis include headaches, general weakness, muscle weakness and even muscle loss and wastage.

In severe cases, the problem of Cervical Spondylosis can affect your spinal cord which in turn can affect your balance. Loss of control over your bladder and bowel is also a symptom of Cervical Spondylosis.

There are some people who suffer from myelopathy along with Cervical Spondylosis. This in turn affects your legs and your mobility and can also lead to loss of balance.

If you experience any of the above symptoms, you must consult your doctor to get the problem of Cervical Spondylosis treated on time so that you live a healthy and a fit life.
