Symptoms of Acid Reflux
Acid reflux is a medical condition associated with indigestion in which gastric juices containing acid travels back into the esophagus from the stomach. This leads to a lot of discomfort to the person thereby hampering his normal life and everyday activities associated with it. Usually, acid reflux is
caused when you eat heavy food and lie down immediately after that. Obesity and pregnancy also raises the chances of GERD. Also, other factors like intake of fatty acids; cigarette smoking; intake of caffeine, chocolate and alcohol can lead to acid reflux. If you are thinking how you can come to know whether you have acid reflux or not, then you should just look out for the following symptoms.
The primary symptom of acid reflux is heartburn. Many people experience heartburns associated with GERD at night. It is usually caused after a heavy meal and is characterized by a burning sensation experienced particularly in chest and throat regions. Heartburns are usually painful. Do you often get afraid after a severe shooting or constant pain in your chest region? When such a thing happens, the first common thing that comes to mind is heart attack. While it is always advisable to get yourself checked by a doctor, this is a symptom which is also associated with the problem of acid reflux. Another symptom which is associated with acid reflux is the trouble swallowing both liquids and solids. Sore throat and hoarseness are other symptoms. Due to constant acid reflux, people with this problem also face erosion of teeth and gums. If you are experiencing such troubles and symptoms, then you should get yourself treated by a doctor. The symptoms of this problem can last for months and thus needs to be treated on time to avoid discomfort.
