To have well toned, healthy and flexible legs, you must indulge in the stretching exercises for legs. Include stretching exercises in your regular exercise regimen to attain high levels of fitness. They not only help in providing you with well-toned and attractive legs, but also help in making one’s body flexible and strong. Given below are some stretching exercises for legs and for the lower region of the body.

First of all, let’s understand the perfect time for stretching. Usually, before undertaking heavy exercises, it is always advisable to stretch your body to warm it up along with increasing blood flow. Similarly, one should also stretch after exercises, especially running, so that you can reduce your muscle soreness. However, everything needs to be done in moderation as over stretching can damage your muscles and lead to injuries. Following are some useful stretching exercises for the leg and thigh region.

An effective exercise for leg stretches is the one which involves the hamstring stretching. In this form of stretching exercise, you need to bring your feet together along with keeping the legs straight. Now try to reach for your toes without bending your knees. If you are finding it difficult to reach your toes, then bend only as much is reachable. Don’t try to overstretch your body.

Gradually, your flexibility will improve. Another way of stretching your hamstring is by lying down flat on the back and keeping your eyes focused upwards. Then, hold the back of your thigh with both your hands and lift it straight up at a 90 degree angle. Then slowly straighten your knee. Similarly, there are various simple exercises like quadriceps stretch, piriformis stretch and others which can help to strengthen and stretch your legs for a much healthier and a fitter you.
