Smart Eating Tips

January 6, 2009

You must be riding on success due to your smartness at work and in relationships. However, to ride high on health, you need smart eating habits. Surprised? You might ask what exactly do we mean by smartness in eating as eating is after all consumption of food and nutrients.

Well, you are right but there are ways by which you can become a smart eater to ward off all ailments and embark on a healthy journey. Read ahead and find out about these useful and essential smart eating tips.

The point about eating food is not just about filling your stomach, but also about enjoying it. Thus, eat slowly and chew your food well. This will ensure that you do not overeat. Devote exclusive time to meals so that you understand and enjoy your diet rather than just taking it as a daily ritual amidst loads of other stress and tension. Also, it is advisable to eat small and frequent meals rather than filling your stomach at one go.

Many people think that eating less and going on a diet is the best way of losing weight. However, that’s not a smart way as when you eat less, your body enters a starvation period and your metabolism slows down which implies slowing down of calorie burnout. Thus, eat intelligently and include energy providing foods and increase intake of fiber.

Do not kill your desire but instead re-mould your desire so that you desire for healthy and nutritious food. Green vegetables and fruits should become your best friends as they provide important antioxidants and nutrients to the body which are essential for healthy living. Avoid non vegetarian food as they are high in saturated fats and thus lead to high cholesterol. Be smart in what you eat, when you eat and how you eat so that there is a balance between taste and health.
