Sleep Paralysis

sleepparalysisThere are some people who suddenly feel an inability to move their arms or limbs on waking up after sleep. This feeling of temporary paralysis is reference to as sleep paralysis. This article will throw light on some symptoms and causes of this problem.

Sleep paralysis can occur at the time of going off to sleep and also after just getting up from sleep. It is a problem in which the affected person can be troubled by various symptoms like nightmares and temporary paralysis in which the person is unable to move his limbs or utter a word.

The person affected is left shocked with a feeling of some evil presence or fear around him. The person affected can also suffer from hallucinations that can leave him horrified.

There can be various causes of sleep paralysis. Stress is one such trigger that can lead to sleep paralysis. In addition, the problem of sleep paralysis is also associated with the medical problem of narcolepsy.

After having looked at the various causes and symptoms of sleep paralysis, let’s look at some natural ways by which you can prevent this problem from recurring. Since stress, be it physical or emotional, is a prime trigger of sleep paralysis, you must try to de-stress your life.

Yoga, meditation and regular exercise can prove beneficial. Similarly, you must ensure that you have a sound and proper sleep.

Eat healthy and try to decrease the intake of caffeinated drinks. Keep a sleep schedule and stick to that. In addition, do not panic or get frightened when a sleep paralysis attack strikes you.

In fact, you should try to share your fear and experience with your near and dear ones as that will comfort you. If you get frequent episodes of sleep paralysis, then you must consult your doctor.
