Signs and Symptoms of Menopause
When a woman turns around 45, she usually starts thinking about menopause. Menopause is usually talked about as an end of an age or a beginning of another chapter in one’s life. Also, you must have often noticed the fear, anxiety and even horror on many women’s faces when they talk about the approaching of menopause.
This however, is due to the anxiety of an unknown thing. But how do you find out about the coming of menopause? Usually women in the age group of 45 to 55 experience menopause but it varies from person to person. However, there are certain signs and symptoms which can give you an indication of the approaching of menopause.
Biologically, menopause is defined as a stage in woman’s life when she stops ovulating and menstruation stops. The primary sign that is associated with menopause is the stopping or cessation of periods for about 12 consecutive months. Periods start declining and even become irregular. Hot flashes are something which are every well known by almost every woman.
They are one of the main symptoms of menopause and are defined as a sudden experience of warmth or intense heat over various parts of the body, followed by chills. Vaginal thinning and dryness and involuntary leakage of urine and even painful urine are other symptoms. Mood swings is another sign associated with menopause.
Women suddenly start feeling irritated, depressed, anxious and even violent. Troubled sleep and sudden weight gain, especially around the waist are other symptoms associated with menopause. Joint and muscle ache is another common complaint among women and this problem increases during and after menopause as there is more rapid bone loss.
Thus, it is essential to take care of your nutrient intake to prevent osteoporosis. Other symptoms which can be associated with menopause include interest loss in sexual activities, headaches and fatigue. Thus, by being aware of these various signs and symptoms, a woman can be prepared for this biological and psychological change in life
