Seasonal Allergies

April 30, 2009

seasonalallergiesChanging seasons and some particular seasons like springs can lead to seasonal allergies. This is because when the level of allergens is high in environment, it leads to allergic reactions in a person.

These allergies are a reaction to environmental pollens, grasses, weeds, and certain microscopic allergens that get transferred through air.

If you get seasonal allergies, then you might find yourself sneezing, coughing, getting irritated skin, and also suffering from some other common symptoms like asthma, wheezing, cold and watery eyes.

Seasonal allergies can also lead to dry throat, sleep disturbances and also lead to an impaired sense of taste and smell.

In seasonal allergies, air-borne allergens are the main culprits for allergic reactions which can range from mild to severe.

The best way to deal with seasonal allergies is to first find out the allergen which triggers your allergic reaction and then take steps to stay away from it.

Since seasonal allergies are a result of certain allergens like pollens and dust particles, here are some ways by which you can prevent it. If you are allergic to pollens, then you must avoid night and early morning time.

Don’t go out during this time as the pollen count is highest during this time. Also, you must avoid living in areas which are closer to congress grass and other allergens.

The best way to avoid air-borne allergic reactions would be to stay at home. However, this is not a feasible option as we all need to go outdoors for some or the other work.

Thus, you must ensure that you wash your hands, face, and even hair after you come back to wash away the pollens that might have got stuck to you.

Along with the above measures, you should also keep your house clean and pollution and allergen free. This helps in preventing seasonal allergies and the discomfort caused due to them.
