Run to lose weight

September 11, 2008

Don’t run away from the problem of obesity but instead run with it and in some time you would attain your desired figure and fitness level. The extra weight in your life brings with it an extra bag of problems- not to forget the psychological set back which accompanies it. Instead of trying all weight loss pills and complex exercises, indulge in the simple yet effective activity of running to get rid of your extra fat. Don’t expect for immediate magical effects but definitely running would yield faster results than other forms of physical exercise. It has been found that running about 25 to 30 miles a week can help in the loss of about 2800 calories. However, also remember to consume less calories than you burn so that the process of weight loss can be initiated.

To begin the physical activity of running, equip yourself with proper running shoes so as to avoid injuries. Carry a bottle of water with you so as to prevent dehydration. In addition, follow the age old tested formula of ‘slow and steady’ as running at a moderate pace for long distances is any day better than a brief spell of fast running. Start slowly and gradually your stamina levels would increase and you would be able to increase your speed as well as distance. However, don’t try to do everything together as that might lead to overstraining of muscles which in turn can lead to various injuries.

Do not think that going in for a crash diet can yield immediate benefits. Instead adopt the healthy way of exercising, especially running, to effectively burn extra fats and calories. Running then is an effective way of reducing weight along with helping in the overall fitness levels of the body. So wear your running shoes and say sayonara to those extra kilos of your body.
