Role of spices in your health

December 26, 2008

Did you ever thought about the contributing role of spices to your good health? Well believe me that spices not only just add exotic flavor to your cooking food but also helps in building the immunity system of your body which keeps you at bay from various ailments. Some of such spices are written below with their health benefits-just read them out!

Turmeric
You will be glad to read that turmeric is rich in antioxidants and anti- carcinogenic properties. Turmeric has more potential than merely applying it as face-pack. In case of minor cuts and bruises, just dab a pinch of turmeric on the affected area for quickly stopping the blood flow. If you are troubled by congestion in throat, then don’t panic, just drink a glass of haldi wala dudh, and trust me you will get tremendous relief. Not only these, but turmeric also helps in reducing blood cholesterol level of your body, relieves sore throat, cough, cold and flatulence. As an ingredient of most cosmetic lotions, turmeric paste helps in preventing and curing pigmentation, dark circles and acne marks. Isn’t that wonderful?

Cloves
If a visit to the dentist gives you nightmares then make sure your cupboard is always stocked with a bottle of clove oil. Always keep in mind that clove oil has antiseptic properties that are best known to relive you from a toothache. Also it acts as an excellent mouthwash. The main ingredient present in clove oil is eugenol which has inflammatory properties that can help in easing the stiffness and pain linked with muscle aches, joint pains and arthritis. As a spice, it helps to reduce chest congestion and stimulate digestion for people with constant complain of constipation. So make sure you include cloves in your diet to gain its benefits.
