Restless Leg Syndrome
As the name suggests, restless leg syndrome refers to the problem in which your legs become restless and requires some movement, be it kicking of legs or walking. This problem, however, occurs more at night and is thus one of the causes of insomnia. This article will look at the problem of restless leg syndrome in detail and will talk about its causes, symptoms and treatments.
Restless leg syndrome is a problem in which the legs start paining when they are not in motion. This particularly happens at night and can be characterized by symptoms like leg aches, pins and needles sensation, a tingly feeling and also by a feeling of kicking and jerking of your leg. This discomfort in turn leads to sleepless nights.
There can be various causes of restless leg syndrome. Pregnancy is one such cause and it can also be caused due to obesity, smoking and also due to intake of alcohol and caffeinated drinks. In addition, other problems and ailments like kidney disorders, anemia, hypothyroidism, and diabetes can also lead to the problem of restless leg syndrome.
If you are suffering from the discomfort and pain caused by restless leg syndrome, then here are some natural remedies that can help you out. If you live a sedentary life, then you are at a higher risk of developing this syndrome.
Thus, to prevent it, you must move your legs in the morning and keep yourself active by walking, cycling or any other physical activity that involves the movement of your legs. In addition, having a hot water bath can help to alleviate the pain associated with restless leg syndrome.
As mentioned above, restless leg syndrome can be caused by intake of alcohol and caffeinated drinks. Thus, you must reduce your intake of the said drinks and also try out some leg stretching exercises to effectively prevent and treat the problem of restless leg syndrome.
