Remedies for sore throat and cough

December 16, 2008

Hey people, if sore throat and nagging cough is keeping you awake whole night, and all the syrups have failed to give you enough relief, then don’t panic much now! Here are some easy homely remedies that will help in treating your cough as well as sore throat.

You will be glad to read that honey is a flavored remedy for sore throats for years, and it can silence coughing too in a great way. Believe me, it won’t take much honey to do the
Trick. For kids, a small dose of ½ to 2 tsp depending on the age will do the work. But it is very important to note that don’t ever give honey to a child who is not yet a year old because there’s a risk of botulism. You can even give honey to adult patients too. You can try honey with tea and lemon for extra throat lubrication. Always remember that honey is a great source of antioxidants.

Another way to cure your sore throat is taking 1 tsp of coarsely powdered cinnamon, boiled in a glass of water with a pinch of pepper powder, and 2 tsp of honey.

You will be glad to read that even two or three drops of cinnamon oil, mixed with a tsp of honey also provides immense relief from sore throat and coughing.

Take two tsp of fenugreek seeds and put in a litre of cold water and allow simmering for half an hour on a low flame. Cool this solution to a bearable temperature strained and then use it entirely for a gargle purpose. It will definitely give you relief from sore throat.

Water boiled with basil leaves can be also taken as a drink or use this for a gargle purpose to relive your sore throat problem.
