Remedial Measures for Bad Breath
April 23, 2009
Bad breath should not be suppressed by using mouth fresheners. Instead, get diagnosed the cause of that foul smelling breath. A decaying tooth might be the cause or there could be an infection. Then there is a serious self-consciousness and embarrassment that limits social interaction. Apart from the medical treatment, observe the following practices in your daily life to keep that bad breath away.
Regular Brushing of Teeth:
The most logical and effective way to handle this order is to brush regularly, possibly after every meal. If it’s not possible or practical to brush so frequently, brush at least twice a day. Don’t forget to brush your teeth before going to bed at night. The reason for that is very simple. While you are sleeping, all the food particles left in your mouth degenerate to give that unpleasant breath .On other occasions, rinse your mouth every time you eat something or the other. Try to understand it. While we eat, some food particles generally get deposited around our teeth. If we neglect to remove those, it leads to a decomposition of left over particles, which result to this unpleasant odor in the morning.
Improper or insufficient oral hygiene is the most common cause of bad breath. Brushing your teeth after your last meal of the day is the most important step in the right direction. Apart from keeping your breath fresh, it helps to fight dental decay.
Dental Floss:
Another helpful technique is to floss your teeth. Eating fibrous foods that are so important for our health, leads to clogging of food particles in between our teeth. It is advisable to remove those clogged particles then and there before they can harm you. Don’t hesitate to use toothpicks to remove such particles, but take precaution that that you don’t use too hard an external aid to get rid of clogging, as your gums get damaged.
Keep Your Tongue Clean:
Imagine having food without the tongue! One may eat or gulp food without teeth but without a tongue—-? Yet most of us really make no efforts for its maintenance. The least you can do is to keep it clean. It should form the next most important step for maintaining oral hygiene.
Drink Water: Drink lots of water, even in small sips. Water and other fluids contribute to a healthier mouth by keeping it moisturized and thus fresh. It’s specially effective and important too after having consumed sweets and dairy products like ice creams and sweetened milk. The least you can do is to rinse your mouth after such foods.
