Preventing Tooth Decay
Would you like a full fledged and a shinning smile or one which is tainted with depleting self-image due to the formation of tooth cavity? A simple daily based care can provide an everlasting and a shinning smile to a person which is not only appealing but also captivating. Thus, one should indulge oneself in basic hygienic techniques along with a healthy way of living to ensure a happy and a smiling life.
Tooth decay is a dental problem which is associated with the destruction of tooth structure affecting the enamel as well as the dentin layer of the tooth. It is basically caused by wrong eating habits and an unhealthy way of living. It is rightly said that “an ounce of precaution is worth the pound of cure”. Thus, one should lay emphasis on daily dental care from our early childhood days so as to keep one’s teeth in healthy condition. Parents should ensure in the regular dental check-ups of a child so as to prevent the risk of any tooth problem. In addition, regular dental care should be taken which involves brushing of one’s teeth with fluoride-containing toothpaste along with cleaning of one’s teeth with dental floss or interdental cleaners. Brushing twice a day, preferably after meals, helps in the effective removal of plague thereby preventing tooth decay.
Along with regular dental care, one should also follow a nutritious and a healthy diet to keep one’s teeth in good condition. One’s diet should be low in fats, moderate in carbohydrates and high in fiber content. Moreover, one should avoid too much of sweets specially before going to sleep. Every day, some new techniques are becoming available for the treatment and prevention of tooth decay. According to one research, chewing of gums containing sweetener xylitol temporarily retards the growth of bacteria that causes tooth decay. Moreover, mouth rinsers can also help in healing of early cavities in one’s mouth. One should take adequate care of one’s teeth to help them shine with health.
