Pregnancy is a period of changes. Changes in the hormones of the body also lead to some changes in the skin of a pregnant woman. It can lead to some problems of dry skin and pigmentation but all these things can be easily taken care of with the help of some basic skin care tips. Given below are such tips which would help your skin glow. After all, your skin should reflect the joy and happiness of your pregnancy.

Applying regular oil is a primary requirement for a healthy skin during pregnancy. This is essential to prevent dry skin and stretch marks which are common during this period. Look for products containing sweet almond oil, wheat germ oil, olive oil and avocado oil. Use of coconut and jojoba oil can prove effective for the prevention of stretch marks. You must have heard a lot about various benefits of essential oils. However, strictly avoid essential while in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy as that can cause the fetus to abort. If your skin is oily or acne prone, then you can experience great skin havoc in your first trimester of pregnancy. The safest way to treat acne and breakouts is through the use of products which contain glycolic acid, alpha hydroxyl acid, or witch hazel.

Pregnancy skin care
should ideally start with gentle cleansing of skin. Don’t wash your face more than two times a day so as to prevent drying. Always use a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and supple. Women with oily skin can use water-based moisturizer and those with dry skin should opt for oil-based one. Using sunscreen of minimum SPF 15 is a great way of preventing discoloration. Drink loads of water as that is essential for the glow, and radiance of your skin along with aiding in keeping your body healthy. Sleep well and most importantly, remain happy so that your face reflects the glow and happiness of pregnancy.
