Parenting Tips for Handling Twins
July 8, 2008
Lucky are those parents who receive a double happiness at one go. Parenting twins brings with it both happiness and fear as along with a double joy, there is a doubled responsibility and commitment towards the healthy growing of your twins because as a parent, you cannot afford to neglect the demands of any child. Constant nursing of two little babies of same age can lead to a lot of stress and strain. As a parent, you are involved continuously in changing the diaper of your children, feeding them, bathing and massaging them and subsequently giving both of them equal amount of care and attention. Amongst such a hectic life, one needs to desperately involve oneself in proper time management so that challenges and responsibilities do not overshadow one’s lifetime experience of love and happiness.
The most important tip for handling twins is to stay away from stress and strain. It is easier said than done but de-stressing yourself is important not only for yourself but also for the healthy growth of your children. One can stay away from the “fright and flight” responses by keeping one’s emotional, psychological and physical self de-stressed through one’s indulgence in meditation and yoga. This not only rejuvenates your physical self but also revitalizes your emotional and positive energies. In addition, one should take a healthy and a nutritious diet to re-energize one’s body along with taking little naps so as to remain fresh and alert.
While handling twins might seem like an uphill task during the initial stages, it becomes a lot easy when your babies attain the age of two. In fact, handling twins after the age of two becomes much easier than handling kids of different age groups. One can easily teach both the twins new skills and values at the same time and twins become a much better company for each other than children of different age groups. Thus, handling twins is not a nightmare and it can be easily accomplished through love as well as strength and courage. So, enjoy the new experience of life and don’t let fears of responsibility overshadow your happiness.
