July 3, 2008

Have you ever stopped to consider how much your feet do for you? Right from standing, running, waking, to a good body posture, really where would we be without our feet? And yet they are the most neglected areas of our body.

We forget to give require amount of care to our feet as we provide to hands, face and hair. Regular pedicures are considered to be an additional and useless expense. But you can try out a home made pedicure which is not only easy but can do wonders for your feet.

You can begin your pedicure by removing nail paint by using a good quality nail paint remover. Provide a well groomed look to your nails by cutting them in desired shape. Don’t forget to file them properly.

Now, soak your feet in a tub of warm, soapy water for about 10 to 15 minutes. With feet in, remove the dry rough skin on your soles of feet with the help of pumice stone. Make sure you rub pumice stone in circular motion.

With nail brush, gently remove the dirt from your nails. Apply cuticle cream around your toe nails. If you are unable to find a cuticle cream, use oil and massage with it properly. After massaging, gently push the cuticle using a rounded orange stick.

Now apply a rich moisturizing cream over your feet and massage well with for about 4-5 minute. Leave it for few minutes after massaging so that the cream gets absorb in feet. Later you can wipe off the excess cream, with cotton.

Now your nails are ready for applying new nail paint. Start by a base coat, and then apply 2 coats of any desirable nail color. Make sure you allow the nail paint to get dry between the coats.

Pedicures should be done at least once a month, but if you have more time and inclination you can pamper your feet by doing it twice a month.
