A toddler’s first walk is treated with great joy and happiness in the family.Along with learning to walk, your toddler also develops a desire to explore the world and it is very important for you as a parent, to encourage your preschooler into outdoor activities so as to aid in his healthy overall development. When an infant turns into a toddler, he begins to develop his motor skills and as a parent, you should encourage him into outdoor activities which help in instilling social and moral values into him along with aiding in his emotional, physical and intellectual growth.
Outdoor activities do not imply going far-off in a camp to learn something. Instead the first step outside the house begins with an exploration of the world for your child. One can teach one’s child about nature and wildlife by taking him into the garden and teaching him to associate each figure with a mental concept of it. Thus, instead of teaching him the meaning of ‘cat’ from a book, one can visually show him a real cat which in turn would lead to a faster and a joyful learning experience. Playing fresbie with your child is a good idea as it helps in the child’s development of balance, coordination and physical fitness. In addition, the activity of tiptoeing helps in increasing the height of a child. Walking on tiptoes by pretending to be different animals can be a healthy and an enjoyable outdoor activity as it teaches the toddler to use his own body weight to develop strength and balance. Moreover, one can teach one’s child various simple aerobic movements like hopping and running to maintain healthy fitness level.
If you have a good backyard, you can make a kiddies pool over there which will act as a refreshing kind of outdoor activity. Moreover, if your toddler has a creative bent of mind, you can help him to develop that creativity by telling him to paint and decorate a doll house in your garden. You can also indulge your child in an environmental friendly activity by teaching him to plant a seed and watering it regularly to see it grow. This will also help in instilling positive values in a child. Simple outdoor activities can be a great help in the useful channelising of the child’s energy. In addition, it can help in the intellectual, social and physical development of a child.
