Natural Ways of Treating Sore Throat

October 16, 2008

Weather change, dust, excessive intake of chilled ice-creams and even loud talking can lead to the problem of sore throat. Anything that irritates the sensitive membranes at the back of our throats and mouths can lead to sore throat. However, the majority of sore throats are caused by viral infections such as common cold, flu or others. Whatever be the cause, sore throats lead to pain, discomfort, irritation and even inflammation in the throat. While sore throats usually subside themselves, you can try some natural ways for a faster relief.

Mango bark is very useful in the treatment of sore throat and other throat disorders. It can be used as a throat gargle by mixing 10 ml of the fluid extract with 125 ml of water. You can also gargle with a mixture made by mixing white vinegar, water, salt and crushed vitamin C together. The simplest and often heard of remedy is by gargling with salt water every few hours. For effective results, you can also mix a cup of warm water with 2 tsp of honey and the juice of 1 lemon. Sip this liquid slowly and experience the soreness of throat reducing with time. If you have a sore throat as a result of cold, you can naturally treat it with the help of cinnamon. One teaspoon of coarsely powdered cinnamon, boiled in a glass of water with a pinch of pepper powder and two teaspoons of honey can be taken as a medicine in the treatment of this condition. The leaves of henna are useful as a sore throat cure. Tamarind is also useful in the treatment of sore throat. Use tamarind water as a gargle.

Follow these given natural methods to get rid of the irritable sore throat naturally.
