More about foot care

June 30, 2008

Wash your feet as soon as you come home from outside. Use an anti-bacterial soap and scrub with a loofah for the same purpose. Afterwards dry your feet well, especially between the toes. Always remember leftover moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria, which causes odour, so dry your feet properly with clean towel.
Always cut your nails and file them to a suited shape or to your desired shape. Don’t forget to take care of your cuticles. Use cuticle softener and orange stick to push them back. This will make your nails look cleaner. If your nails are usually smaller in size, then proper and effective use of cuticle softener can give them a wider look.

Buffing your feet with foot paddles or pumice stone avoids dry skin. You can even mash 1/4th of banana; polish your feet with it to eradicate the dry cracked skin.

To relax and relieve the tired feet, soak them in salt solution. You can prepare this salt solution by adding pinch of salt to Luke warm water. Soaking feet in this salt solution also removes the pain from feet too.

Massage your feet wit foot cream and not with lotions, because cream has more percentage of nourishing oil. Applying a light moisturizer at least 2-3 times a day keeps the skin supple and soft. You can also use coconut oil or castor oil for same purpose.

Make sure you wear your size. Tight shoes make your feet sweat more than normal. Be certain that what you wearing are neither over-sized nor under-sized. If you choose to wear closed shoes, apply some talcum before putting them. This will keep your feet dry. Also Sun your shoes to keep them bacteria-free.

Go barefoot. Walk on green grass everyday for atleast 10 minutes. By walking barefoot i.e. without slippers you help your feet to breath on fresh greens.
