Low Carb Vegetables
With the growing popularity of low-carb diets due to various health benefits associated with it, there are also some misconceptions which have taken birth. The most common being that following a low-carb diet implies cutting down on numerous fruits and vegetables. However, the truth is that low-carb diets are equally healthy and do not need a shunning away of vegetables as a careful and intelligent diet following can ensure inclusion of various fruits and vegetables in your low-carb diet plan. Given below are some vegetables which can be included in your low-carb diet for healthy effect.
When we talk about cutting down of vegetables for a low-carb diet, it is usually the starchier vegetables like beets, carrots, peas, potatoes, corn and parsnips. Instead you should include vegetables in your diet which are non-starchy and low in carbohydrates. These include sprouts, greens, lettuces, and other vegetables like radishes, mushrooms, avocado, cucumbers and broccoli amongst others. Including berries is a healthy option as they are not only low in sugar but also high in beneficial antioxidant. The list of healthy low carb vegetables also includes food items like Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, asparagus, onions, celery root and also herbs like parsley, basil and rosemary. Vegetables are important for consumption as they are high in fiber along with containing various important vitamins and minerals needed for the smooth functioning of the body. Vegetables include phytonutrients which in turn prevent the body from various ailments like cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and other health conditions. Usually, many of the fruits and vegetables low in carbohydrates are rich in phytonutrients. Thus, a low carb diet is beneficial from all angles. The next time you think of perfect health, think about a perfect diet in which you replace starchy and high carb diet with a non starchy and a low carb healthy one.
