Liquid Fasting

January 8, 2009

As the name suggests, liquid fasting is all about indulging in a liquid diet which contains healthy liquids like fruit juices, vegetable juices and soups. Do not take beverages as a part of liquid diet as they are not healthy for consumption. Liquid diet has many advantages and it is very useful for those trying to lose weight. Given below are the various benefits of liquid fasting and how it can enhance your overall health and well being.

Just like your mind needs a break after a hectic week, your stomach too needs a break from heavy digestion. Trying liquid fasting is a healthy option as along with providing your digestive system some rest, it utilizes the reserved energy in the overall healing and rejuvenation process of the body. Moreover, liquid fasting diets help in detoxifying the body thereby helping the body get rid of unwanted toxins.

Moreover, they also aid in strengthening of the immune system thereby increasing one’s resistance. If you think you will be restricting your body of essential nutrients by following a liquid diet, then you are mistaken. On the contrary, choose proper fruit and vegetable juices which help in hydrating your body along with nourishing it with essential nutrients which are easily absorbed by the body. Liquid diets are usually high in vitamins and minerals than your usual diet.

Liquid fasting is also of two kinds- clear liquid fasting diet which contains only clear liquids and disallows milk and the other one being a normal liquid diet in which anything liquid is permitted. If you are wondering as to how long this liquid fast should last, it all depends on you. It can range from 3 days to 40 days. The longer you keep it, the better as it removes toxins from your body and also unwanted fat. Thus, you will not only be healthy but also fit with a much good looking figure.
