Lip Care Tips in Summer

April 30, 2009

lipcaresummerlWhen we think of summers, we think of scorching sun and the dry and sunny season which saps the moisture away from our skin. We all look at ways to keep our skin and hair healthy in the summer season, but most of us often tend to neglect our lips.

Our lips too suffer from the harsh UV rays and sunny weather of summers and thus, you need to follow some lip care tips to keep your lips healthy and soft.

A problem faced by many in summers is that of dry and chapped lips. This is primarily because of heat and UV rays that dry out the moisture from the lips. Additionally, when we suddenly move from the sun to our air conditioned cars and rooms, then this transition tends to dehydrate our skin and lips. Thus, here are some tips that can keep your lips healthy even in the summer season when the sun is blazing down on the earth.

You need to apply lip balms as they keep your lips moisturized and prevent them from chapping. Like sunscreen lotions that protect the skin from harmful effects of UV rays, lip balms too are available with SPF protection. You can use such lip balms to provide your lips with the much required sun protection in summers. Use a lip balm or Vaseline instead of licking your chapped lips.

Along with using lip balms, you also need to change your diet. Have plenty of green vegetables and fruits and provide your body and skin with the much needed important vitamins. Most importantly, have plenty of water as you need to keep your body, skin, and lips moisturized to prevent their dehydration.

Thus, follow the above given tips to have beautiful and healthy lips in all seasons.
