Lifestyle Diseases
The modernization of world has led to technological advancement but its by-products are not too healthy. In today’s cut throat competitive world, levels of stress and strain are on a steady high. Combine them with unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyle and what you get is a dangerous list of lifestyle diseases which are often heard of in today’s world.
Lifestyle diseases are on a rise and as the name suggests, they are an outcome of one’s unhealthy living conditions. Let’s first understand what lifestyle disease are. Lifestyle diseases refer to problems like heart diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis, cancer, sleep apnea, Alzheimer’s and many others which occur due to improper living conditions and due to an imbalance between nature and existing environment.
Let’s now look at the reasons why lifestyle diseases are on a steady rise. Today’s job environment particularly demands long exhaustive hours in front of computers, leading to a sedentary lifestyle. Most of us have forgotten to exercise and move our lazy bodies. Add to it growing stress and strain which further aggravate the problem and also serve as root cause for various other ailments.
Along with sedentary lifestyle, people indulge in unhealthy eating habits. In today’s fast paced world, people are left with no time to focus on their dietary conditions. They often skip the all important breakfasts and move from nutritional food to junk food. Improper diet, inadequate exercise and growing stress and strain are all the ingredients for lifestyle disorders like cardiovascular ill health, obesity and its generated various other problems.
Along with unhealthy mode of living, the imbalance between environmental conditions and the rise of global warming and pollution have added to the woes of humans. Thus, adequate steps need to be taken and humans need to drastically improve their lifestyle to prevent various lifestyle diseases.
