Laser Skin Resurfacing

September 2, 2008

Every woman has a dream of retaining her young looks as no one wants to move around with wrinkles and sagging skin. Laser skin Resurfacing is a procedure which caters to the demands of such women as it helps them to regain back their youth by removing wrinkles and fine lines from the face thereby providing them with an eye catching youthful beauty. This technique is one of the latest inventions in anti-aging field as it helps in the improvement of appearance by freeing a person from fine lines, scars, wrinkles and hyper pigmentation. In contrast to other available procedures in the market, laser skin surfacing is gaining popularity as it is much faster, safer and painless as compared to others.

Laser skin resurfacing is an anti-aging technique deployed through the use of laser lights. In this procedure, short, concentrated, pulsating beams of light are directed at irregular skin to perform skin corrections. Generally local anesthesia is given to patients but people who go in for treatment of deeper layers of skin might need general anesthesia. The laser is moved precisely over the area which needs treatment and the time of treatment depends on the depth of wrinkle, scar or discoloration. The laser technique works by removing number of outer skin layers necessary to uncover the layer which is not affected by imperfections.

People with fine line or wrinkles around the mouth, eyes or forehead are the ones who are best suited for the treatment of laser skin resurfacing. However, if you have active acne or very dark skin, then you may not be suitable for this treatment. Like any other treatment, this procedure also involves some basic after care guidelines. People can experience mild swelling or discomfort after laser resurfacing. This can be controlled with ice packs and medications prescribed by your surgeon. During this phase of healing, it is very important that you do not pick the crusts off the treated area as that could lead to scarring. With a growing progress of science and technology, it has become possible to revert back the changes of time which were once considered as permanent and irreversible.
