Having a perfect dental and oral health is necessary for healthy living. When we talk about oral care, we usually associate it by taking care of our teeth and we pay special attention only to ways by which we can prevent tooth cavity and tooth decay.
However, you also need to take care of your gums to have perfect dental health. This article will provide description of various gum diseases which must be prevented and treated on time.
You must have often seen people complaining of swollen and painful gums. This can be a result of s common gum disease called as gingivitis. Gingivitis is a problem which often leads to your gums becoming red, inflamed, painful and can even lead them to bleed.
This gum problem can be a result of various factors like diabetes, hormonal changes, malnutrition and others. People who smoke are at a greater risk of developing this problem. With proper oral hygiene, you can prevent as well as treat this gum trouble.
Periodontitis is another kind of gum disease which can affect and damage the bone that surrounds your teeth. It is usually seen as an aggravated form of Gingivitis which can lead to severe tooth damage and even tooth loss if not treated on time.
Though pain is often a symptom of various kinds of gum disorders, people might also face painless gum diseases where-in the gum, tooth and bone surrounding the teeth get affected but all this does not lead to any kind of pain. Medically, this kind of problem is termed as Aggressive periodontitis.
Being aware of the various kinds of gum problems is the first step towards preventing and treating gum diseases on time. Regular oral checkups, proper brushing and flossing and basic oral care are a must to ensure the optimum health of your gums and teeth.
