Is your child an introvert? Here’s how you can help!

July 14, 2008

You took your child to a family get-together and suddenly she chooses a corner for herself. She hardly participates in conversation quickly. In fact, she rarely walks up to someone to say hello. Does all this makes you worried about her? Don’t be. There’s nothing wrong with your child, it’s just that she may be introvert in nature.

Parents play a large role in shaping child’s personality. So, it’s very important that you think twice before dealing up with your child to make a good imprint or impression on his mind.

If your child is introvert, it becomes all more your duty to get him out of his isolated world. Try to spend more time with him and make him to indulge in group activities and games. When in a crowd, let the child introduce himself to others. You can also indulge your child in following activities also.

* If he sings well, encourage him to join school choir, or ask him to join live music sessions or a band.

* if he is into reading, take him for book reading sessions and let him interact with the author on his own.

* If he is into painting, let him try his hands on a flower pot or the empty walls in his room. When guests walk in, show it and let him earn their praise.

*Look into your child if he has hidden acting skills. May be he like mimicking. If yes, then arrange a get-together of school or colony friends at your place and encourage them to stage a play. Invite children as well as parents. If your child is lauded after the play, then he will surely be happier to do the same things next time with more confidence.
