Irritated by oily skin? Here’s the solution

July 31, 2008

With each passing day, if your face looks more and more like a greased pan, then its time to pay more attention before the oil mills run havoc! The humid weather is a bane for those with oily skin.
Mind it, oily skin tends to attract more grease and grime leading to acne and comedons. That’s why it’s imperative to keep the oily skin clean. It is essential that you clean, tone and moisturize your skin on daily basis. Do not just stick to washing. Remember that washing your face four times a day only ends up producing more oil. Instead select a mild cleaner and use it twice a day. Follow it with an astringent to remove the excess oil. Do not go for an alcohol based astringent as it strips too much oil from the face.

Undoubtedly a good quality toner helps in cutting the oil. You can add a pinch of salt to soda and dab it on oily areas to get out of sticky situations. Cucumber is a natural astringent as well as a toner. You can drink it, eat it or apply on your skin. Even exfoliating and mud packs do wonders in checking the skin oil.

Just make sure you keep your skin clean. Even makeup should be kept to bare minimum. Stick to kohl and lipstick. This is because more foundation you use, higher will be the chances of clogging up your pores.

Make sure you resist oily foodstuffs and fatty food to get rid of oily skin. Drink at least 12 glasses of water per day. Drinking water will help in flushing out the toxins from your body. Feed yourself with seasonal fruits like watermelon, muskmelon and vegetables like gourd, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Make sure that these vegetables and fruits are essential part of your diet. Mind it, naturally succulent, they are rich source of water.
