Indoor Activities for Toddlers

July 31, 2008

As soon as your child begins to crawl and walk, he begins to spend his energy in exploring the world around him. As a parent, it becomes very important for you to make creative and best utilization of your child’s energy so that he learns while he plays. Almost all children love outdoor activities and games. However, there are instances when you have to keep your child indoors and you can prevent him from becoming restless and cranky by engaging him in fruitful indoor activities which along with keeping him occupied, also help in educating him.

If your child is big enough to understand and play with puzzles, then this board game is quite effective in engaging the child’s interest along with helping in developing his intellectual level. Moreover, you can also engage your child in a creative activity which involves making shapes and designs with clay models. Ensure that the clay being used is healthy which does not lead to any skin infection to your child. Similarly, painting and cutting paper pieces according to one’s desire can help in the effective utilization of the child’s creative energies. Let your child observe the things around him and create his own perception of it on paper.

Many small children seem to be fond of music and dance. To effectively engage them in indoor activities, you can allow them to dance to their own tunes. You can also play memory games with your child which involves the use of various different toys which a child has to register. Then you hide one of such toy and make your child guess the missing one. This helps in increasing concentration and memory skills of the child along with helping him in an effective use of time. All these simple activities can play a great role in keeping your child occupied in indoor activities along with helping a great deal in his overall development.
