October 13, 2008

Healthy living is directly proportional to healthy eating as our body requires proper nutrients for remaining healthy. Vitamins form one of the most important constituents of the nutrients required by our body and required amount of vitamins are essential for keeping ailments at bay. Vitamins are primarily of 5 kinds and all of them have some specific role to play in ensuring the optimum well being of a person.

Vitamin A is required for enhancing the immune system of the body which in turn implies shielding your body from various ailments. Do not miss out on this vitamin as a deficiency of Vitamin A can lead to problems like night blindness, chronic disorder of bowel movement and even lungs infection in extreme cases. Thus, include green vegetables, and clarified butter in your diet. Similarly, vitamin B is essential for a healthy and a disease-free life. Vitamin B helps in increasing the blood flow of the body, and thus prevents anemia by keeping a check on hemoglobin level. Nerve disorders, beriberi and other ailments are associated with deficiency of this important vitamin. Consume green leafy vegetables, raw vegetables, beetroot, milk and fruits to ensure adequate supply of vitamin B to the body. Food grains are also a good source of vitamin B.

Third most important vitamin is Vitamin C which is easily obtained from citrus fruits and vegetables. It can also be found in sugarcanes, watermelon, apples, pineapple, and sprouted gram amongst others. If you abstain your diet from Vitamin D, then be prepared for bone related disorders like osteoporosis, more common in women. Similarly, vitamin E too makes its presence felt in maintaining the optimum health of a person as well as the health of his skin.

Ensure that your diet fulfills the vitamins demand of the body so as to live a healthy and a disease-free life.
