How to treat boredom with yoga
In yoga, boredom is referred as a tamasik state or dull and toxic state. A person suffers from this boredom when he or she is physically, mentally or emotionally disturbed. In a state of boredom, physical, mental or emotional balance of a person gets deranged and unstable. Soon, after one may find himself or herself sitting in front of television set, wondering why he/she doesn’t have a life. Therefore it becomes very essential to bring back the person to his normal state so that he or she can perform their routine work in a lively and cheerful manner. With the help of various pranayams and asanas that are offered in yoga to fight against boredom.
Rechak pranayam: In this pranayam, take long breaths in, hold and then breathe it out. Mind it, as you concentrate on your breath, you become more alert than before and carry out your activities more efficiently and effectively. Thus it helps in fighting mental fatigue.
Brahmari pranayam: Barahmari pranayam is popularly kwon as ‘bee –breathing’ technique as buzzing sound gets produced from your nostrils. First of all sit in a most comfortable position, then inhale through both of your nostrils slowly and hold breath for a while. Now use your index finger to block your ears. While blocking, exhale through both your nostrils. By concentrating on your throat area, try to produce the humming sound. Remember that proper practicing of this pranayam relaxes you at all levels plus boost the mental functioning of your body.
Yastika asana, Tal asana Yastika asana as well as Tal asana both are mainly stretching poses that helps in strengthening spine. It also relaxes your abdomen and increases the blood flow to your head, thereby reducing the tamasik state to settle in your body.
